Pretty Ugly

scaffolding love

boxed

I have a thing for scaffolding- which is by now public knowledge- and pretty ugly things. You know when its so ugly its cool again? Especially if it's architecture. I kinda love these two buildings - their total lack of beauty make me wonder what was the architect thinking... But the utter ugly structure transforms into a really pretty pattern... which I kinda dig. Guess that makes me kinda weird? Or I unwittingly got what the architecture was trying to achieve?
Nah, I rather stick with being kinda weird

Happy weekend!

PS: I got tons of photos I haven't shared during my long absence... so be prepared for an overload of my photography

It's Daisy time in the Western Cape, also known as spring in other areas of the world.
So I am snapping and sketching the living carpets of colour and gorgeousness as often as I manage to. (oh and yes: this is a warning! lots of flowers are gonna make its way round here in the next couple of weeks)

Review of my week

It was a week of research and edits. Intermingled with flu and the decision to make it a 3day weekend.
For some reason also managed to carry round a camera with an empty battery for most of the week. And when I finally remembered to charge it, i forgot to put it back into to the camera i still was holing around... I am not sure if it was tragic or comical, when it took me more than 5 minutes to figure out why my camera wasn't working, panic attack and all....
Spring is upon the Cape and the light is fabulous for snaps. The whole place is screeming pretty and happy at this moment. LOTS of flowers around and many happy faces!
Now that I managed to charge the camera battery and actually put it back into the camera I might manage to take more snaps this week.

Spring Bliss!

Yesterday was one of those fabulous days. Those days when the sun shines, the skies are perfectly blue, the view seemingly never ending and Spring is finally here!
I on a whim dropped everything and went to Kirstenbosch with my Lumix. The decision was the perfect on for that moment... the light was wonderful, the birds were singing and the air was heavy from the scents of the extravaganza of blossoms surrounding me!
It was pure bliss!

Will be back tomorrow with the Corner View, the theme is 'seven' and instead of Jane this week Theresa will host it...join the fun!

Viewing Glass

Bricks

Photography has become a really important part of my creativity- it started last year (march 2008) when I discovered the life in the rocks pool in False Bay. I took my dinky little point and shoot and started snapping- to my surprise I discovered that I am not half bad and also that I really love taking photos. It is has become a medium that is close to my heart and a big source of inspiration. When I go on my photo sessions - i forget everything and I am just senses and immerse myself into my surroundings. The worlds starts to become a place of utter beauty and wonders. I often feel like an explorer discovering wonderful new things- seeing a new detail being amazed by something ordinary. Photography is a sum on my reflections on creation and is very meditative. (or at least I try to capture my reflections!)

Because of all this I started a second blog (the viewing glass) dedicated to Photography.... and am now wondering if I should discontinue it. I was thinking that it is a bit much to keep up two blogs on the one hand. On the other hand (and that was one of the reasons for starting a 2nd blog) I feel I am already a jack of many trades and wonder if I am not a bit too much all over the place? So felt keeping at least my photography separate would make it more streamline...Its a dilemma!

What's your advice?

Review of my Week

Review of my Week 34

This week seems to have established that Spring has moved into the Cape. (I truly hope that it will stay)

It was a week full of baking, really into it at the moment. And being ever experimental the week started with Strawberry tarts -simple and easy, yet delicious- went over pecan, cranberry and chocolate cake to chocolate & coffee gateaux -chocsponge, coffecream, chocolate mousse covered with a dark chocolate canache- and ended with white chocolate, marzipan (made by moi) & rose mini cakes.... this week I am thinking black forest gateaux and taking some photos

I am still infactuated by yarn! Been knitting a lovely yellow pair of socks. And also trying my hand on writing my own pattern- will have to tell you all about it- on Wednesday

How was your week?
